My Journey

In February of 2020. Matt, my world was completely turned upside down. I became a widow after losing my husband, Matt, who fought Stage 4 Colon Cancer with immense courage for 3.5 years. At 37, I never imagined a future without him, and not once did we entertain the idea that he would not make it.

Then on February 21, 2020 Matt passed away at 41. My first thought was: “ How am I suppose to raise our 5,6, and 7 year olds with out him along with a teenage son? How do I even begin to rebuild our life?” The grief felt unbearable, but it was only the beginning. Two weeks later the world would shut down as the pandemic took hold, as I was left isolated in way I never anticipated.

In the depths of my loneliness, I turned to online communities, hoping to find others who understood my pain and my journey.Thats when I discovered “Never Alone “, and incredible organization supporting young widows, particularly those raising children.I attended one of there retreats 6 months after Matt passed. It was in Nashville and it was truly such a life changing weekend for me. I felt so seen, so understood, I felt so loved and so supported.

As I met more and more women locally and online, I realized the need for a space for women to be supported on there journey. Not just through grief, but about life, a marriage that ended, a loss of a child. They needed a space to share, to be vulnerable and to rebuild their lives with intentions.

That’s when I knew: I wanted to help others through their own journey. From my own journey with grief and loss and out of my on healing came the vision for MBC ( Melissa Blair Consulting) born in late 2024.

Get to Know Melissa

I’m a mom, a friend, a daughter, a sister. I’m a youngest of 3 girls. Born and raised in MN. Went to college in Dallas, TX at Christ For the Nations. I found my way back to Midwest after graduation.

Myjourney has not been an easy one, I have been a single mom longer than I have been married. I’m striving to continue fighting forward and choosing joy each day.

Whether I’m balancing time with my 4 incredible children ( ages 25 to 10 ), stay active with a run through the Twin Cities or exploring new destinations, I embrace every opportunity to grow, learn and experience life’s adventures.

Staying active is a big part of who I am- whether it’s running, hiking, escaping somewhere warm in the winter months to recharge. I enjoy pushing myself both physically and mentally, and I’m always seeking ways to stay grounded while challenging myself to take on new experiences.

As a proud mom, I’m constantly inspired by the children. Their unique perspectives and zeal for life motivate me to be the best version of myself, both personally and professionally.

I love discovering new places, whether it’s a local restaurant, a cozy coffee shop, or a hidden gem in the city. I love connecting with people and value meaningful connections that come from those experiences.
